On May 10, 2016, Professor Evamarie Hey-Hawkins of Universität Leipzig visits our university, and gave a wonderful report to the teachers and students of School of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering. The report was emceed by Prof. Jimin Xie, about one hundred faculties and students attended this report.
Prof. Hey-Hawkins’ report entitled “From Phosphorus Compounds and Materials to Biological Applications of Carboranes”. In this report, she introduced the synthesis and characterization methods of phosphorous antitumor drugs, and also its applications in biological fields. The next day, Prof. Hey-Hawkins and some teachers and students of school of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering attended an academic salon together. They had a deep discussion in their own research field. Attendees benefited a lot from the salon.
Prof. Hey-Hawkins received her Ph. D. in Inorganic Chemistry, University of Marburg, Germany. From 1993, she is the professor in Inorganic Chemistry of Universität Leipzig. She has received many rewards: IUPAC Distinguished Woman in Chemistry or Chemical (2013); Doctor Honoris Causa (Dr. h.c.) by Babeş-Bolyai University, Romania (2014); Costin Neniţescu Medal, awarded by the Romanian Chemical Society (SChR) (2016) and so on. Her research fields are homogeneous catalysis with mono- and multinuclear transition metal complexes, biological and medical chemistry with inorganic compounds, precursors for materials science. She has published about 420 high-level research papers.
